Dyeing, lace, beads and pattern interpretation

My Drops shawl collar cardi is well underway. Not sure about how I feel about being decked out in what closely resembles a baby’s shawl, it’ll be interesting to see the end result. In my experience Drops pattern translations into English can get lost along the way. It’s been a life-saver having faithful knitting companions to help me interpret and make sense of the pattern – thanks crew 🙂 This is what knitting groups are all about!

Picking up a Slow Cooker for nicks off Trademe has given Karyn the opportunity to unleash her creativity with dyeing.

This beauty by Karen, one glove done at the mo, perfect tension and great detailing with the picot edge and fine cable-like stitch.

Karen’s finished In Dreams shawl – beautiful – and those beads!

My bolero, take 2, for Ania was a quick project and will look lovely over all her pretty summer dresses. I enjoyed working this easy pattern which also has a short sleeve option. Sirdar 1722 Snuggly DK.

Karyn’s edge-to-edge top and shawlette complete with cute give-away pin.

Simone makes light work of hats and she’s really pleased with this one, smile says it all. The wrist warmer kit, a little something Simone picked up on recent travels down South.

This cute little pumpkin hat made by Karyn. The ear covers for extra warmth and to help with stay-on are Karyn’s genius.

Busy bee is she, Karyn’s finished baby’s cardi and matching booties, can you spot them?. Gorgeous multi colourway, and reminiscent of ‘Magic Eye 3D illusions perhaps?

….and wait there’s more. Lucky is she for whom Karyn made these orange-red lovelies.

More lace and bead work, this by Maureen.

Made by Wendy – this sweet cardigan pattern is called Jessica from Patons Newborn Collection book 1303. Now working on the matching hat, Wendy has made both projects before. This is the one of those patterns that calls you to knit time and again. The highly attractive muted blue shade, unfortunately not coming thorough in the photo,  is a great new take on baby blue. Yarn by Skeinz.

Simone modelling a snood in lace weight yarn. Knit originally in pink , redyed by Karyn.

By Karyn – always with several projects on the go, more socks on the way. She’s a dab hand at cables now.

That’s a wrap for now, hope this round-up has filled you in with some of what iKnit has been up too.

Sing out if you’re keen to stop by or join in 🙂
