woollie winter knits

Mid winter is no fun! I’m so thankful we’ve just clocked the shortest day and the dark and gloomy afternoons will be fading soon. Great weather for knitting though,  iKnit have been busy.

When cold and chill,

I reach for wool and knit my blues away…

the sun will come, the ice will melt

and happy sheep will be

I think of you with kindest thought

for all you give to me.

Wendy is a dab hand at moss/seed stitch and tension perfect cables. This sweet infants cardi in muted green 4 ply, yarn by Skeinz.

Karyn had a tight schedule to finish 2 shrugs for a bridal party, she ably cast off before the walk up the aisle. Another baktus, striking in the wonderful colourway, 4 ply merino, and cute baby booties finish off Karyn’s trio.

Sunflower yellow! A fab colour to knit in winter, this brilliant shade can only make you smile! Fiona did an amazing job creating these gloves. She extended the length which balanced the design, and they were a perfect fit.

Progress….Simone’s ‘In Dreams’ shawl (Susan Pandorf). Check out the link for this stunning shawl!

Beautiful fair isle describes this piece. On the home stretch, Maureen has almost finished a tunic for herself, worked in 10 ply weight yarn (we think).

Progress…and leading the pack, though it’s not a race girls! Karen’s take on In Dreams shawl, pattern by Susan Pandorf.

Lacey socks, also by Karen, and the beginnings of highly detailed gloves. Those who ooh and arh over well crafted knits know that creating such knits is totally achievable for anyone, the key is practice and commitment to the craft.

I finished my yellow multi heart baby blanket. It’s all set now ready for the baby shower. I was very happy with the result and I think by using Sirdar Snuggly it will be highly practical for the new arrival (and mother).

Now I’m working on a Sirdar cardi for Raz, my last offering only just fitting my sturdy and stocky grandson. Not two until September, Raz’s already in size 2-3 year clothes. This time I’m knitting in a bigger size and it’s looking good. I bought the yarn some months ago and playing safe by working the bands and collar in a contrast colour to avoid running out of yarn. Fingers crossed.

Wendy took the plunge and ordered yarn and pattern from Deramore’s and is happily working on a chunky knit for herself. Awesome pattern!
