iKnit 2011 begins

Our first meet-up this week for the 2011 year and it was great to see everyone again. Here’s an overview of our WIP.

Paua shell colours are the theme for Simone’s gorgeous lacey scarf – yarn, Touch Yarns – purchased from our LYS Wellington Sewing Services. Tiny blue-green beads adorn the edges both ends (right).

Touch Yarns specialise in fibre under 23 microns using Superfine Kid Mohair, Merino and Polwarth wools i.e. sheep and goats with fine soft handling fibre. Their beautiful quality yarns are exported around the world. Touch Yarns – another great New Zealand yarn company.

Simone’s socks. Nice detailing.

Charlotte’s WIP front – the top she’s making will be for herself. Attractive muted colours in bamboo.

Karen’s rainbow yarn sock projectand top  – also knitting for herself this time.

Sticking with the trend, knitting for yourself, Wendy is making this sleeveless top Sirdar 9164. Dipping into her stash – the yarn is DK purchased from Skeinz, my kind of colour.

A lacey top with split shortsleeves is Raewyn’s WIP. Once this is washed and blocked the lace stitch will become more prominent.

Raewyn’s embarking on another mystery lace knitting club project from The Unique Sheep. The stunning circular shawl is a design by Janine Le Cras. Raewyn is a devoted fan of The Unique Sheep’s mystery knits and they are amazing! Raewyn has gone for Mother of Pearl colourway, very appropriate considering the theme       –    The Little Mermaid Mystery.

Ania stayed still just long enough for me to take this sweet pic – wearing the bolero I made for her 2nd Birthday 🙂
